New Kids on the Block Rockin' Two Worlds

There were only two kinds of people in our town. "The stupid and the stuck". Turns out I couldn't have been more wrong. I never saw it coming.
-Ethan Wate

New kids on the block, Kami Garcia and Margaret Stohl rock two worlds with their debut novel, Beautiful Creatures. Beautiful creatures is an excellent way to divulge into the combination of the historically linked paranormal.

Ethan Wate thought that there were no surprises (EVER!!) in Gaitlin County. That is, until he met Lena Duchannes. With Lena's arrival came freak rainstorms to glass mysteriously breaking. Ethan thought that he had some sort of connection to Lena, but he never thought that that connection would mean telekinesis. As Ethan and Lena draw closer together, the more Ethan and Lena get closer to the secrets of an ancestor Duchannes,. Things, weirder, and weirder as they come keep happening, and the small town of Gaitlin is quick to jump to the gun, and its pointed directly at Ethans' new Gaitlin County proclaimed witch girlfriend, Lena. Little did the naive people of Gaitlin know that Lena isn't technically a witch. She's a caster, and a powerful caster at that too! But her powers are out of control. Lena's family tries to help her. They try protect her from everyone in Gaitlin, including Ethan, but they soon find out that only way to protect Lena is to keep Ethan with her, but a what cost?

I absolutely loved Beautiful  Creatures. The
words that Kami Garcia, and Margaret Stohl
used were magical and easy to relate to. They
                         described teenage relationships excellently, as
well as how rumours and gossip spread
                         quickly in a small town.
Beautiful Creatures is a must read. And
I can't wait until Beautiful Darkness
                                                             comes out (October 12, 2010).
